In this article, you will read about restrictions that can arise due to a WAF when you are checking in guests at a major event and an alternative solution we can offer you.
Good to know: A web application firewall (WAF) is a virtual security application that filters, monitors and analyzes data traffic between web applications and the internet.

At a large event with many guests, the web application firewall (WAF) can cause problems during check-in. The reason for this is that numerous devices are logged in via VPN and access the system with the same IP address. As a result, the WAF can incorrectly interpret the frequent check-in requests as an attack and block them multiple times. As a result, not all guests are checked in to eyevip. However, this problem is not visible within the app itself.
Preventive measures for major events
Please prepare for the check-in process for your major event well in advance. We recommend testing the check-in under the same circumstances as the day of the event. Perform a test run with:
- the same number of guests
- the same number of devices
- the same setup (network)
We also recommend that you release the IP address of the devices.
If complications occur during your test run, we recommend that you use the See-Ticket Scan devices.
To avoid the problem with the WAF, we can offer you the alternative of check-in with scan devices from See-Ticket. By using the See-Ticket scanning devices, the check-in process is outsourced and therefore cannot be blocked by the WAF.
